On April 12, the Carlton community came alive with colour, music, and shared joy as nearly 500 people came together to celebrate Carlton Harmony Day 2025. Held at Carlton Primary School, this annual event was more than just a community celebration — it was a vibrant display of what can happen when local organisations, residents, and students come together to build a more inclusive future.
CNLC plays a key coordination role in Harmony Day as part of our leadership of the Carlton Community Network, a network that brings together local organisations to build a more inclusive and connected community. Our own Elle, CNLC’s Community Development Manager, was instrumental in helping bring the event to life. Her thoughtful planning, deep community knowledge, and warm, collaborative leadership helped ensure the event reflected the voices, cultures, and energy of the Carlton community.
Working alongside the University of Melbourne and other local partners, the event showcased the strengths and talents of our neighbourhood — from the Chinese Music Ensemble’s beautiful performance to health students engaging with families on wellness and care.
Harmony Day is more than a once-a-year celebration; it reflects the everyday work we do at CNLC — creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.
Check out the highlights from the day in the video below prepared by University of Melbourne and join us in celebrating the incredible efforts of CCN, our volunteers, and our whole community.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Carlton.
Thank you to VicHealth and Victorian Multicultural Commission for their major funding support of Carlton Harmony Day in 2025.
