Welcome/Wominjeka

Education and community building are at the heart of what we do.

Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre Inc (CNLC) works with the people of Carlton and surrounding areas, particularly those who experience disadvantage, to connect, learn, share skills and improve participation in work and community life.

As a Neighbourhood House, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Learn Local, CNLC engages with a broad community including public housing residents, migrants & refugees, and people with disabilities.

CNLC provides a range of support for people in need from programs for people with disability, education for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, food relief and employment services to those experience disadvantage in the Carlton community.

We offer nationally recognised courses, pre-accredited courses, workshops, volunteering, and events.

Learn English

We offer several government subsidised courses for adult learners in English as an Additional Language, adult literacy, and computer basics. We provide a supportive, local, learning environment in a community setting.

Community programs

We offer support to get people into work or further education, organise community events, have a creative writing class, and an “all abilities” program for people with diverse learning needs (which include mental illness, physical and/or mild intellectual disabilities).

Recycling & compost

Local residents can purchase our organic compost online. Click below to pay and then pop in to CNLC to pick up your compost.

Venue hire

CNLC is the ideal venue for meetings and workshops. We have several classrooms and spaces available set in a beautiful community garden.
