Volunteering at CNLC
There are a number of opportunities for volunteering at CNLC. In accordance with the CNLC Volunteer Policy, all volunteers will go through a selection and induction process.
Volunteer Tutor Program
Volunteer Tutor Training Course - Next Course starts 17 April 2012
Are you interested in tutoring an adult who would like to improve their reading and writing skills?
Are you able to commit to 2 hours per week to a 5 week training course, and then to 1 - 2 hours per week working with a student at our centre?
Course content includes adult literacy/numeracy theory and practice, adult learning principles, computers, and working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Upon successful completion of the course, tutors are matched with students. Our volunteer tutor co-ordinator supports the tutors and students with teaching and learning materials on an ongoing basis.
Committee of Management
If you are looking for a chance to take on a leadership and governance role, you may be interested in our Commitee of Management.
The CNLC Committee meets bi-monthly on Monday nights. People from the local community with skills in management, finance, law, human resources, education, community development, buildings and grounds, or just a willingness to contribute are sought.
This is a great opportunity to:-
- contribute to your community
- gain formal meeting skills and an understanding of community development
- meet other community-minded people
